Sumatran Tiger: A Striped Phantom

The Sumatran tiger is the smallest and most endangered tiger subspecies, found only on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. These tigers are incredibly agile and adept at navigating dense vegetation, using their short, muscular bodies to move silently.

Unlike most tigers, Sumatran tigers are excellent swimmers and will often cross rivers to hunt. Their diet includes deer, wild boar, and even fish. A striking feature of this tiger is its thick, darker stripes, which provide perfect camouflage in the jungle and grasslands.

Despite their adaptability, Sumatran tigers are critically endangered due to deforestation and poaching. Conservation efforts focus on preserving their shrinking habitats and combating illegal wildlife trade.
